Zhixuan Xia is a 2014 research intern in the Applied Sciences Group (ASG).

He is also a Ph.D. student in electrical and computer engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  His research is focused on developing optical devices for lab-on-a-chip sensing systems.  His work includes design, fabrication, characterization and optimization of miniaturized optical devices on silicon and silicon nitride platforms.  Before attending Gatech, Zhixuan received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology, China.

In his free time, Zhixuan enjoys travelling, photography, soccer, and hiking with his dog, Noodle.
