Our mission is to advance the next generation of AI systems that can understand, reason, create, and collaborate with users through multimodal interactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our current research spans:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Multimodal reasoning and generation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Agentic content creation and editing<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visual generation and understanding<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Human-AI collaboration and AI-native productivity experiences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Post-training and reinforcement learning for multimodal models<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Interactive design and controllable generation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Data generation, evaluation, and model alignment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our technologies are actively transferred to Microsoft Office, M365 Copilot, and future AI-native productivity experiences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Researchers and interns in the group have opportunities to publish at top-tier conferences such as CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, NeurIPS, ICML, and ICLR, while also contributing to real-world product innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Conduct cutting-edge research in multimodal AI, visual understanding and generation, and AI agents.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Design, implement, and improve foundation models and agent systems to solve real-world problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Build datasets, evaluation benchmarks, and experimentation pipelines for model development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Explore post-training, reinforcement learning, reasoning, and alignment techniques for multimodal models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Collaborate closely with research and product teams to translate research innovations into impactful user experiences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Publish research findings at leading academic venues and contribute to the broader research community.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Required<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to devote most of your effort to the internship during the internship period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Experience in machine learning, deep learning, computer vision, natural language processing, or related fields.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Familiarity with one or more of the following areas:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">         1.Large Language Models (LLMs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">         2.Vision-Language Models (VLMs)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">         3.Diffusion and generative models<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">         4.Reinforcement learning and post-training<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">         5.AI agents and tool use<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">         6.Multimodal reasoning and generation<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong problem-solving and research capabilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strong communication and collaboration skills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Written approval from academic advisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Preferred<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Research experience demonstrated through publications, open-source contributions, competition achievements, or impactful projects.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with large-scale experimentation, evaluation, data curation, synthetic data generation, or model alignment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience developing agentic systems, multimodal applications, or productivity-related AI systems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience with distributed training, model deployment, or systems optimization.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Internship Duration<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must obtain approval from academic advisor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum internship duration: 3 months.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Longer internship periods are strongly
